The Messy Project - The Reveal!

Today is the day. To say I am nervous is an understatement! ha ha
A huge thank you to Kelly over at Messy.Dirty.Hair for putting this together every month..if you didn't see my post yesterday here is the deal:

If you follow Kelly's blog you will have already heard of "The Messy Project".
How it works is Kelly picks a clothing item each month - sends it to 4 other girls (5 including herself) and the goal is to style the item however you would wear it.
Then on a scheduled date (TODAY!) all the girls post their photos of their styled outfit.
Okay I'm going to be totally honest - I was super excited to be apart of this and anxiously awaited my clothing item. When I opened it up last week I kind of wanted to cry!
The item was totally not something I would ever think of wearing - it is totally and completely out of my comfort zone. Justin laughed at me, Whitney is still teasing me, Cruz almost peed her pants when I was taking these photos...you get the idea.
BUT -
So - I decided to suck it up and to embrace the challenge. I like a challenge. And boy oh boy did this challenge me. I apologize for my boring location of photos and crazy shadows on my face - but it was freezing outside (-9C/16F) so I opted for inside and I am no fashion blogger that's for sure.
Without further ado..
Enter: Sequin booty shorts.
Sequin booty shorts & Blazer: F21, Chambray shirt: Winners, Tights: Joe Fresh, Shoes: Payless, Ring: compliment, Bracelet: Le Chateau
I struggled with what shoes? boots? to wear..I think if I had some wedge booties(?) those would have been perfection.. I also didn't accessorize too much as the shorts were blingy enough for me!
And because it took me forever to figure out "an outfit" I have the second runner up.
Sequin booty shorts: F21, Shirt & Tights: Joe Fresh, Shoes: Payless, Ring: compliment, Bracelet: Le Chateau

Which do you prefer - how would you wear these short - would you have the guts to wear them 'out'?

Cruz was a major pestaroo while I did this...and trust me I cropped her out of pretty much every picture above if possible!

Be sure to go check out the other girls who styled these shorts this month and see how they rocked them!!
And trust me - they rock.

GIRLFRIEND YOU ROCKED IT! I love the first outfit! You need to wear that out SOMEWHERE!

I really love the outfits. I do think booties or something would go better since it's fall and it would help complete that whole look.

Oh my word.... those are some short flashy shorts!!! But you rocked it!! And I am not honestly sure that anyone could! I mean I don't think I would wear them out of the house, maybe in the summer to a club if I was into that haha, but def. not everyday wear!! It actually made me laugh out loud in the office and I think my boss wondered what was up... I don't think he saw though!

I definitely like outfit 1 better. I think the black shirt takes away from the shorts. I'm so anti white after labor day but I really like the white blazer with these. I agree, booties would have been perfect. I don't think...I know I'd ever buy these for myself, but if I did have them I *think* I'd wear them out. They're fun for a GNO. Good job!

Embrace the fact, dear Alison, that you simply look stunning in everything and even though you were hesitant, confidence is what comes across on your face!

I love both of those looks! You did an amazing job. And I'm glad you think I look natural in my pictures because I sure didn't feel natural! These shorts basically shoved me outside of my comfort zone!

I LOVE the sequined booty shorts! You look great in them! If I were smaller I would have a pair myself, for reals.

Oh my, those are quite the shorts! Definitely not something I would ever pick out or wear myself, but they look great on you! :)

I could see where sequin booty shorts would be hard to style but you honestly did an awesome job. Perfect balance in top and bottom choices. Two thumbs up!

Love! I agree that wedge booties would look great with these shorts. I really like your chambray/blazer layering. I have yet to find the perfect chambray shirt! Also love how you call them "sequin booty shorts" hahaha, the best.

OMG I think you did great!! I can see why you'd be nervous, but girl, throw some black shoes/booties on with that 2nd outfit and that's totally a Vegas hit!!!! I LOVE IT! Your top look is very trendy too, but I just love the second for a night of dinner, dancing and drinks. Fab-u-lous. You OWNED it.

Dad says...they should be worn to bed with sexy lingerie!! Hahaha

I say ... I would be surprised to see you wearing them out in Public. A little too far outside your comfort zone. They are fun I have to admit

Kristin said...

Yes I agree with the second outfit, just with black booties and youre good to go in vegas!

I like these sequenced booty shorts with the tights, tones them down a bit! When I'm in shape i'd have no problem wearing them out with a loose blousey top. Currently I wouldn't!

You look great & styled them well!

I LOVE the first outfit! I like the second one too but the first outfit looks AMAZING! Good job on styling :)

I really like the shorts with the blazer...great contrast and unexpected!

You totally rocked those shorts! I have a pair that I love! (great over tights because they're less booty-y)
