Meal Planning?

Happy Tuesday!
Not a whole heck of a lot to report on today... Sara and I were treated to a wonderful birthday dinner last night by my girl friends Carla, Krista and Barb. We went to Downtown Food and it was delicious. (Have I mentioned how much I hate driving down town?) Justin gave me great directions to where I was told to park but then I had no clue how to find the restaurant! Oi. I am also direction-ally challenged.

I decided last week (with the motivation from Whitney) (and getting laughed at by Justin) that I was going to start planning meals and shopping with specific meals in mind. I always find it hard to think of what to make for dinner. I like trying new things, like to change it up and try to keep Justin's preferences in mind...so this week - this is what's for dinner:

Olive Garden Pasta e Fagiola (minus the beans Justin!)

I will keep you posted on our verdicts and what I change about the recipes! :)
Do you meal plan? What is your go to meal?

I meal plan every week. sometimes it happens like I plan, sometimes it doesn't. I actually find that I spend less at the grocery store when I meal plan. I also buy enough groceries to have 1 or 2 "back up" meals in case I'm not in the mood for whatever is on the menu. It seems like my go-to meal is usually quesadillas or some kind of wrap.

Michael is the cooker and the shopper in our house. We end up tossing so much food (drives.me.crazy.) because he doesnt plan ahead, and when he does... his mind changes. All day yesterday, he planned tacos. But what did I come home to? Shephards Pie. Interesting. I bought him a little meal planning book... but he is adament that he will never use it lol

I meal plan all the time. I am pretty if I didn't we would eat out way too much. We trade off though - I meal plan and husband does the cooking :)

I am directionally challanged as well!! You should use your maps app on the iphone... it has got me out of soo many binds, you can even set for directions on foot!

We used to meal plan and had a lot of success with it, we continuously say we are going to start back up, but have failed at doing so! But it really does work!!

LOVE meal planning! I printed out your Olive Garden Pasta e Fagiola recipe and can't wait to try it! And a secret I've learned about meal planning- keep a "cooking journal" in the kitchen and write down what works and what doesn't and the date you last tried that recipe. Helps so much when I forget what I did the last time that made it so good! Can't wait to hear what you think about these recipes!

I try so hard to meal plan but it never sticks! I need to start because it gets hard figuring out what to make everyday. Our go-to is usually my pasta that I make.

That cajun pasta looks dellish...please let us know how it is.

We meal plan because it makes grocery shopping much easier, and I hate whenever I have to throw away food in the fridge just because it wasn't planned for.

Once in a while I meal plan. Its been pretty tough with a new school year/coaching, but I am planning on getting a crock pot. I think that will help!

They all look so good! let me know how they turn out :)

I did menu planning for a month earlier this year, and it was a lot of work, but definitely worth it when it comes to grocery shopping. If you want ideas, check out my posts :)

I think meal planning is the best, so that I can use specific ingredients without them going bad, i.e. if one recipe calls for cilantro, I try to have every recipe use cilantro. However, I most of the time stop at the Farmer's Market and pick up random meal inspiration. I guess I'm just all over the place!

I try to meal plan, but I am single so that really means making one huge meal on Sat or Sun night which I then have as leftovers for lunch during the week. And then I get by with things like microwaved baked potatoes for dinner during the week. It would have to change if I was not single!

I hope these meals turned out great. I have a recipe for cajun chicken pasta from the blog skinny taste and it's SO good. I need to make it again one of these days!
